Scandal at all levels:
They hired on about 30-40 employees with all these promises and visions of the future during 2006-2007. The company did a complete 180 degree turn and gave layoff notices at the end of October 2007. They chose to do it at that time because they didn't want to do it "during the holidays".
The layoffs came down because of increased pressure from the Board on Howard Lee, CEO, to halt all US operations. US employees are too expensive.
Furthermore, the termination date for all of the laid off employees was the last day of November. Right smack in the middle of two major US holidays. Does anyone know how difficult it is to find employment during that time?
The company, during the announcement of the layoffs, stated that they would have recruiters on-site to help people get other jobs. This never happened.
It is a shame that the company decided to cut corners by laying off an entire workforce of dedicated employees and off-shoring production in search of lowering costs. How about slightly lowering the salaries of the top three executives instead?
Nah, that would be too much to ask.
