Oakland Beach's heyday as an amusement destination---complete with roller coaster, Ferris wheel and seafront skating rink---was wiped out by the great hurricane of 1938. But Rhode Islanders still make their way to this sliver of shoreline in Warwick year-round to bite into a little taste of summer in the form of doughboys---deep-fried dough sprinkled with cinnamon, powdered sugar, or both....
