Description

The Illinois State Capitol building replaced the Old Capitol in 1877 and is still in use today. People can observe legislative sessions from a balcony, visit the the Illinois Firefighter Memorial (southeast corner) and the Illinois Police Officers Memorial (southwest corner). The State Capitol is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 3pm.
