worst solar panel instalation ever:
Bill Sloniker was the contractor used by Synergy Conservation to install my new 9 panel solar system. It took a week to do a one day job. Six rows of roof shingles on my new 40 year roof were torn and broken which he claimed was normal. Hundreds of roofing nails, construction debris, and cigaret butts were left on the roof and under the panels even after three rounds of "clean up". A two inch gap around the conduit into the crawl space was left. I came home to a dark house one evening after picking up my 10 year old son from soccer practice to find Bill and 3 other men working with one flashlight to get the power back on. I found more flashlights and my ten year old and I held flashlights, supplied tools, and searched for dropped items for 90 minutes before they got the power back on. When the panels did not produce power I was told the problem was on my end but a week later we found Bill had forgotten to install fuses in the disconnect box.

I pointed out to Bill that the lag bolts he brought with him to attach the rails to our roof that hold the panels would not make it through our SIPs (4 inch structural insulated panels), through our tongue and groove roof, and into the roof beams as they should. Bill assured me that they would use longer lag screws to insure they would reach into the roof beams.

Multiple times he assured me he would come fix any problems and I would wait all day but he was always a no show claiming he called when he never had and switching his phone to not accept messages. Synergy finally agreed to send a new crew to fix the problems created by Bill.

The new crew had to complete take apart Bill's installation, install eight rows of new shingles and rewire the entire project. (This crew has spent the past month fixing Bill's installations) it was found that the lag bolts he used only went into the foam of our SIPs and were striped and loose. They did not even reach or tongue and groove roof deck much less the roof beams as required by law to hold the rails and panels in place. He had lied to me assuring me they had obtained longer lag bolts that were embedded into the roof beams.

The panels and rails did not have ground lugs and the rails did not have a ground strap to grounded them together. It would not have mattered because he had only run the ground wire two feet into the conduit from the panel junction box and only three feet into the conduit from the breaker box to fool the inspector leaving 60 feet of the conduit run with no ground wire. At an elbow in the conduit he switched from awg 10 wire to awg 12 wire with no junction box as required by law.

This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor and feel totally violated. My wife is afraid for our house and safety.

Buyer Beware:
Hired Bill Sloniker, the owner, to install a whole house fan. He left the job with two large holes in drywall. Mounted the fan switch crooked and connected it to an existing light switch. I have to turn the stairway light on for the fan to run. Connected fan switch so that the low position operates the fan on high speed and vice versa. He promised to come back and fix the issues and to email me a receipt. He never came back, nor did I receive a receipt. His wife called a couple weeks later and scheduled an appointment to fix the issues. The day of the appointment he was a no-call, no-show. Haven't heard from him or his wife since. Ignores phone calls. Hire at your own risk.
