In the early 1960's International Design Center opened a small store in the former Sheraton-Ritz Hotel on Marquette Ave in downtown Minneapolis, as an importing retailer of Scandinavian home furnishings. International Design Center soon grew to a size that required a bigger store. In the mid 1970's, IDC moved to 100 2nd Ave North in the Minneapolis Warehouse District.
