Good Ol' Bait N' Switch is still alive and well in 2020:
Bait and switch on their back issues. boxes with $1.00 written on the front. turn out to be more upon check out. Many have no bags or boards cram in. boxes that are completely filled which gives off the indication that they are $1.00. the sellers see you digging through them for over 30 minutes and still doesn't warn you about the prices. so when you bring a pile of back issues to the counter it gets process like it's going through a Gestapo check point. So a supposedly five minute or less check out turn into a 30 minute tedious price search on "EACH" book through a comic price guild on the web that inflate the actual amount they are really worth and not by what they are really selling for. (see EBAY) it's pretty bad when I find out later from respectable comic owners in the vicinity that they know all about this comic shop's shady bait and switch ploy. Buying current issues there is ok, Just don't expect doing any dollar digging there, the long boxes may say $1.00 but they aren't. In some states this is illegal they might want to change there practices and start putting a sign or two saying that their prices are subject to change upon check out and if you happen to bring a pile of books to the counter make sure you have a snack on hand cause it's going be a long wait while The Seller goes through each book on his widescreen monitor and throws out even crazier prices. from not a real reliable price guild.
