Description

Located in the La Promenade Shopping Center, it's easier to spot Kolache Creations with your nose, rather than your eyes. Look for the Dallas nightclub and let the smell of fresh baked dough guide you into this days-of-yore bakery. Of Czechoslovakian origin, Kolache Creations prepares its 20 odd varieties of koláče, with an assortment of meat and cream cheese fillings, all from scratch. The...

Tips

Now "Kolache Creations," this is one of the sweetest little bakeries in town, run by a husband and wife with kolaches in their familial veins (and probably their intestines). Here you'll find massive kolache variety -- not just the sausage/cheese/jalapeno standby, but sweet fruit versions, like apple, blueberry, and even pineapple.

Know Before You Go: Never noticed the Kolache Shoppe? It's in the same complex as Tuesday Morning and the Dallas Nightclub, both visible while driving down Burnet Road. Most take their food to go, as the shop's lone table seats only four.

Perennial contender when the conversation inevitably turns to the best kolaches in Texas. Casual take-out spot has all the best varieties, from the sweet (cherry, apple, pineapple, stawberry, raspberry) to the savory (bacon, meatball, sausage and cheese, jalapeno). The family's been in the baking business more than 40 years now, so go make your Czech forbears proud.

In Short
Inside this strip mall location there's a quaint, Old-World bakery feel. Although it's a small space, instead of feeling cramped, you feel transported to another era, complete...
