"Good things come in small packages" at this "quirky" Palisades Japanese where a "focused selection" of "high-quality" sushi plus kamameshi, a rice-based hot pot, come at "very reasonable prices"; the "tiny", "square box" of a space (above Makoto, on the second story) is made more fab by a "Beatles-heavy play list" and "prompt and courteous" service; P.S. it's also a "favorite" take-out spot.

Though patrons sometimes wait hours for tables in Hisao Abe's second-floor Palisades sushi joint (no reservations are accepted), it's worth it. Most rolls are a dollar apiece; even luxury fish like fatty tuna or yellowtail will set you back. The quality of the fish ranks among the highest in DC. Offerings other than sushi are sparse, but the fish is the star here, and it's hard to miss teriyaki...
