Just...no. :-(:
15 years ago, this practice was amazing. They were a positive, happy crew that loved their professions. Many women I knew went because it was an all -female practice. My experience when I had (my now 13 y/o) daughter was AWESOME. Dr. Berdine delivered my daughter and I couldn’t have asked for better. That being said, I saw everyone in the practice during my pregnancy. They felt it was good to get to know all the docs and midwives. They were all phenomenal. My son is now 7 and Linda delivered him, and I was so thankful to her.
Through the years it was evident that the bar was lowered. Dr. Perkins retired and they started hiring new staff/partners. The office got more crowded. You can tell that they were busier. They didn’t grow well with the changes. It was no longer the happy, enthusiastic atmosphere…it had become more sarcastic, tired, exhausting and just….busy. The staff look stressed and the mistakes started coming. I stayed because Linda and Dr. Berdine had delivered my babies…and it was sentimental to stay.
However, I did leave this year. I left because of a variety of issues, but mainly, the final straws were due to unethical and unforgivable behavior. No matter how much sentiment I had for this office, I had to leave for my own health. Examples? I’ll give you a couple quick ones, so you get the idea.
(1) One of the midwives told me that they were going to give me a supplement to help me with my PMS, which had gotten terrible once I hit 40. She told me to take it one week prior to my period each month. I went to the pharm to pick up my “supplement”. It was Prozac. I would have had a longer discussion regarding PROZAC versus a supplement. Also, for an office that had been treating me for 15 years, delivered 2 of my babies….should know that I am a professional in mental health….I was angry.
(2) Every time I saw a particular doc, she advised me to go on birth control pills. In my chart…over and over and over….it explained that I cannot take the pill. She never read my chart….ever.
(3) Dr. Assad would come into the room, mouth full of food and acting in such an unprofessional way, I was appalled.
(4) A Medical Assistant walked into the room and explained to me that my urine sample was negative for proteins. Funny, I told her…..I never gave you a urine sample and I am not pregnant.
(5) When discussing certain symptoms, I was told “Well, the only thing you can do it get the mesh that burns your uterus”. No other options, no other tests…..just burn my uterus or else.
I started seeing my new OB/GYN 6 months ago after a year of seeing no one. I was seeing him for
GYN, and now OB. He is amazing, and the practice, so far…seems awesome. I wouldn’t normally go towards an Atlanticare practice, as they are just so big. But, someone recommended highly….and I went for it. Dr. Wesley and the Pavilion OB/GYN practice….is exactly what should be expected in a professional office that cares about their patients.
