Italian market slightly run-down but well-stocked. Features one of the few legitimate butchers and fishmongers in town, and an interesting stew of people who live for that sort of thing. Dip into a little good quality Italian-American and watch the bubbes elbow through local yuppies to get to the last swordfish steak.

This Italian restaurant in the middle of a chaotic grocery store used to be among the city's best, but now, thanks to a mediocre, somewhat dirty-looking buffet and abysmal service, we lament the old Laurenzo's. Stick to buying your own stuff at the grocery and you'll be much better off.
