"Everything's right" at this "petite" West Village bistro, a "Francophile's dream" where "meticulously prepared" Provençal dishes come via a "superb" staff; granted, the seating's "tight" and the tabs "pricey", but it's hard to beat for a "romantic dinner for two."
Le Gigot serves French Procençal cuisine in an elegant setting, right in the heart of the West Village. Purity of ingredients and simplicity of preparation distinguish the specialties, including gigot d’agneau, bouillabaisse, crab cakes, lobster, grilled whole fish, duck confit and steak au poivre, with seasonal dishes rounding out the menu.
Chirac 'n' roll. On the sweetest block. Francophiles sit shoulder to shoulder in this tiny spot, doubtlessly vying for the title of Biggest America Hater while bemoaning the death of Baudrillard. Understated, romantic décor gets high marks for wooing, great choice for the post cinque-a-sept. Namesake gigot d'agneau aux flageolets is awesome, as are steak frites and cornish game hen.
