Loco Pez Restaurant Review:
There's almost always a wait for a table at this kitschy L.A.-style Mexican spot located in a former Fishtown dive bar space, and for good reason. Loco Pez, with a name that translates loosely as "crazy fish," keeps the prices low --- the house Impala margarita goes down easy for $6, and tacos start at $1.85 --- and the atmosphere fun. The noisy room, more bar than restaurant, features...
“The secret is out” about this “great little Mexibar” tucked into Fishtown, where a “friendly” staff serves up “cheap”, “yummy” Cali-style “mini-tacos” and “spot-on” margaritas to a “sociable” “hipster” clientele; there’s “just the right amount of energy” in the “retro” rec-room setting replete with Pez dispensers, a fish tank and pinball machine, making for “good times” all around.
Tacos (especially the recurring duck en nogado) are must-gets here, but don't sleep on the spicy chili cheese dog in the "vaquero" section. Amazing!
Thick-cut, house-made tortilla chips are what make the nachos here something to write home about. Especially when you're downing them with a few fresh margaritas.
