I hired this company called LT Electric LLC to have my electrical panel box replace. The gentleman came out to give me an estimate. His name is Anthony (Tony) Ranson, the owner of the company. He stated that he was a Master Electrician and could do this job. He sent me the estimate for the work (I attach a copy for your review) He started the work on 02/14/15 after I gave him a $1000.00 deposit, he was suppose to come back that following Monday 02/16/15 however I had an emergency and was not available. Mr. Ranson called me, email me, and text me for the balance of $334.28. During our communication I kept implying when was he going to come out to complete the job. He stated that he completed the job and that to label the amps and to put the door on would be extra. I stated that he did put that in the invoice. by this time I had become very frustrated and decided to pay him. Mr. Ranson tried to go up on the balance by stating he had to buy additional parts which I was not aware of. I paid him, the balance that was on the invoice because I figure I could put the door on myself. I happen to speak to a coworker about my situation and He informed me that in the State of Maryland to change out an electrical box must be done by a Master Electrician and a permit must be obtain. I than called the state of Maryland permit and spoke to the inspector for my area who inform me that yes a permit must be obtain and by a Master Electrician and the work has to be completed under the guidance of a Master Electrician. Once I started to do more research to only find out that Mr. Ranson is not a Master Electrician. Mr. Ranson had two license number on his web page which I learn one license no#11818 Belongs to a gentleman by the name of William Robert in Glen Burnie, Maryland and the other license# EJ903338 is his which is from Washington DC. and it states he is a Journeyman Electrician. Since I have contact Mr. Robert who stated he had no ideal Mr. Ranson was using his license on his web page, Mr. Ranson has now removed his number. (however I have a printed copy of the page). The Maryland inspector advise to me to have my electrical box check out by a Master Electrician because there are so many components that must be done which can be very dangerous if not done correctly. I had another company come out which I have attach a copy of their invoice as to what needs to be done. Now I have to pay an additional $2067.00 dollars so that my panel will meet the State of Maryland codes and regulation. I do take some responsibility for not digging a little deeper other than checking with the Better Business Bureau. I know that there is no other way to recouped what I have lost other then to take Mr. Ranson to court, my only concern is that this situation does not happen to anyone else. He should not be allowed to miss-represent himself as an Master Electrician, no only did he miss-represent himself to me he has done it on several website that people search in order to get assistance with choosing reputable people for home improvement jobs such as Angie List, Networx and meetanelectrician.com. Iam not sure what can be done, however I have any documents from pictures, emails, texts message to substantiate my complaint In addition to my research I found out that his rating with the State of Maryland is Not Good. if there are any additional documents you may need to investigate this matter Please let me know see how he left it
