Despite the authentic-sounding name, this friendly SoHo spot isn't the oasis of Mexican cuisine that California transplants have been looking for in the Big Apple. But despite that, the burritos and other Mexican staples are decent---particularly after a few drinks (which is when the place seems to hit its acme in popularity).

This cheap and cheerful Mexican dive, just on the western edge of fashionable SoHo, serves great heaping platters of barrio-style enchiladas filled with stewed beef, shrimp, and chicken mole. The Super Vegetarian Burrito has loyal vegetarian followers. If you're shopping in SoHo and looking for a cheap lunch without attitude, this is place.
