Fine for oil/spark plug changes but nothing else:
I brought my 93 gsx 1100 to Marks for a carb cleaning because it sat for about two years, and a rejetting because the previous owner installed those individual foam air filters, and those things play havoc with the air/fuel mixture. Anyway, I discussed the proper pilot jet, main jet, and needle combination that I wanted with Mark, and he just stared at me with a blank look on his face, that should have been my first clue that he had no idea what he was doing. When I got the bike back, it ran terribly, because he just doubled the size of the main jet. I took it back a second time and was rewarded with a bike that didnt run any better, but he also left the choke cable dangling against the header and melted it. He even changed one of the needles, but left the other three alone for some reason. When I took it back a third time he said I would need new carbs. Listen friend, I am a mechanical engineering grad student, and I know that carbs dont just magically go bad on a bike this new, which makes me wonder if he broke something an is trying to pass it off as wear and tear. Now he won't return my calls. The more I look over my bike the more stripped screws and rounded off bolts I find. I guess if you dont like doing oil changes, he can handle that kind of stuff, but I honestly believe that anything more in-depth is beyond his capability. In case anybody's wondering, I decided to reinstall a stock airbox and stock jets, maybe with a few minor adjustments to compensate for the altitude here in denver, wish me luck!
