Joe Nigro, more commonly referred to as "Joe the Door Guy," can be found most nights in front of Wink & Nod. Aside from a brief stint in real estate developing, he's been in the restaurant/hospitality industry since he was 11, and he oversees the guests' first impressions. He's also known for his ability to never forget a face.

Merrill & Co. is now serving a late-night menu of ever-changing specials from 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Last night's debut included fried oyster sliders ($5 each), chicken & waffle fries ($10), fried catfish ($15), and the "line cook's whim," a soy-miso-marinated hot dog with nuoc cham, sambal aioli, cilantro, and scallions (two for $8).
