Step it up:
Not only was I a coach and my 2 kids where apart of this league for 4 years but I cheered in this league growing up for 7 years. I like how Mid Cities has a Pee Wee league letting kids start so young so that they can grow up playing together and then moving on to school to play with one another there. Being a 5A district area having a great football team will get more of our kids off to college and mid cities can be that strong foundation...... BUT the leaders in this league are living their DEAD football/cheerleading dreams through our children. After going to another league this past season I see how far behind Mid Cities is with everything. We played in a league where my son played by REAL football rules. I think he was better prepared for jr high and high school football by knowing what the real rules are. I just can’t wait until there is a younger more enthusiastic board staff running the Mid Cities league. The staff that is in there now is a bunch of old men that compete with each other and uses our children to do that. You are not Jerry Jones running a franchise you are PEE WEE FOOTBALL league. It’s not about you and how you "use" to be a football star in high school. (which was so long ago probably before face mask on helmets) It’s about letting these boys play together teaching them great leadership, sportsmanship, and giving them the confidence to make them great adults. But when they are lead by a bunch of cry babies that think they will get bigger salaries on winning PEE WEE SUPERBOWLS (I think I just threw up in my mouth) how is that teaching them. Don’t get me started on the cheerleading league. They don’t even compete anymore. They don’t want anyone to get there feelings hurt. WOW!!! HELLO Cheerleading is a competitive sport. You have to try out when go to Jr High, high school and college and there is a chance you don’t make it and your feelings get hurt. Cheerleading is one of the most dangerous sports there is and your feelings get hurt in life. REAL cheerleaders aren’t there to look cute and be snooty but to show sprit, to have great attitudes and leadership for their schools. The cheer side in this league is ran by a bunch of women who never cheered in there lives. They just think their daughters look cute in the outfits. They still use the same cheers I cheered with in 1985. When you are a cheerleader for a school there are so many rules you have to go by because you are representing your school and your football team. As a cheerleader you are to keep the sprits up in the crowd no matter if you are losing by 7 touch downs. In this league you are taking that away from girls so when they do become Trojans or Raiders they look more like "hot girls" out there more then cheerleaders. They aren’t even thought proper movements or proper safety rules for stunts. The coaches that do know how to coach is because 1 their daughters cheer in a real league outside of mid cities or they were real cheerleaders growing up. So because of the lack of knowledge in the staff it makes it harder for them to become college cheerleaders. We never see Bell or Trinity on ESPN competing in high school cheer competitions. That is because there foundation isn’t strong enough to get them there. I feel sorry for the cheer coaches in High school because they have to spend most of the first season beating out of these cheerleaders heads that they are CHEERLEADERS not cute girls in short skirts. When I cheered for mid cities we had competitions and cheer camps that were ran by real cheerleaders. We had coaches that knew about cheerleading because the league prepared them for it and all year we bust our butts to be the best. It’s always great to compete in “Our Super bowl" and the boys come out and cheer for us. The boys don’t like to come anymore to a "show" it’s almost as bad as going to your 3 year old little sister’s ballet recital. You know mid cities you can get sponsors so that you can have better jerseys, cheer uniforms and provide better coaching. Get off your butts and go out and get it. Don’t just have meetings on how you’re going to pay for the soda machines. Have meetings on who will come out and host a class to make you a better league. We are surrounded by great colleges and Hello “Americas team” the Cowboys that volunteer all the time. You just have to ask to get. You can encourage your coaching staff to focus on our children not what they could have done if they where blank blank football stars. Grow up you are a middle to old age man living a high school dream that has been dead for over a century. Most of you couldn’t even make it in college. Let’s focus on getting our kids off to college more so then winning a flag, jr, or sr league super bowls. STEP IT UP AND WELCOME TO THE NEW CENTURY!!!

Old school:
This league used to be the jewel of the Metroplex. Now it is just a glorified YMCA league. They have ran off any young coach with new ideas, or that are a threat to beat any of the old timers. I coached in this league for 10yrs and was told If I coached spring football that I would not be welcomed back. The league made rules about that this year (which are not on the web-site, still have the 2007's on there) punishing kids as well as coaches for spring football participation. They even changed the registration form asking if they played spring football, what team, coach, and league they were involved in.Failure to submit this information would result in a year suspension from the league.Great job on punishing the kids! The parents are highly upset that they are trying to dictate what their kids do in the spring. They lost over 100 kids this year to the Texas School Of Football. Four Mid-cities teams played in that league, and three of which were coached by former mid-cities coaches. Thats not counting cheerleaders that were lost. The GREAT Thurman Watson would be dis-appointed in the leadership of this league.

High School Drama!:
This league is for those who love drama and approve of bylaws being used to run off those who don't conform to the old bitter men that have been part of the organization for 50 years. Don't dare bring new blood or new ideas because they run everything according to how it was in 1950 - unless it benefits one of the long time board members. Bylaws are bent for those who believe themselves to be above them, and those same bylaws are stuck to like glue when being used to run off someone who thinks change could be a good thing.

Not worth my time watching grumpy old men throw temper tantrums when things don't go their way. It's all about the win, regardless of what they say that they stand for.
