I gave 1 star because there wasn't fractions or negatives:
Sherry Montgomery is the epitome of a "used car saleman." First of all, we inquired about a vehicle, and asked if there was "absolutely" anything wrong with it that wasn't in the add. This is before making the 4 hour drive there mind you. Of course Sherry, being the honest person she is, informed us that it was in perfect condition as described in the add, and she promised there would be "no surprises." When we get there, we find that the blinker doesn't work, the car had been backed in to something and had a sizeable gash in the back bumper rendering the parking sensors useless, as well as no manual or floor mats. It didn't even have the remote keyless entry as stated in the ad, and we had to pull her arm to agree to provide this. When we went to take it for a testdrive, we find the vehicle on dead empty and Sherry provides us with 5 whole dollars to go put fuel in ourselves. On the testdrive, the check engine light came on, and they put a scanner on it and Sherry informed us that the gas cap was what caused it, and we simply must not have put it on right. I will note that we are trusting people and assumed she was being honest with us. She said that she had been driving this vehicle because it "was her favorite" to Kansas City twice a week, and that it got "23 to 25 miles per gallon". Come to find out it gets 16 ABSOLUTE TOPS on the highway. She also stated(and even put in the contract) that she would order a manual and send it to us. She even got on the computer in front of us and I guess pretended she was ordering it off ebay, and stated "there, done. I'll send it to you when it gets here." After several repeated reminders and a year later, we still haven't seen it, just failure to return any more calls. Irritated by all of this and under the understanding we weren't being lied to, we still thought the price was in the ballpark after driving all that way and wasting our time so we took it and headed back. Turns out that the gas cap is definitely not what caused it, and over 8 trips to the auto shop, two new o2 sensors, a new catalytic converter, new o2 wiring harness...we are still battling figuring out what caused this. Basically, the point of all this is...don't trust anything they say. If they do have something you're interested in, take it to your own mechanic and have it fully inspected! Don't use theirs. Buyer beware. Thanks again for the honesty Sherry. Matt and Angie

Great Dealership, Great Transaction!:
Last week, June 9, 2010 was the first time I have purchased a car from an independent dealer and Sheri made the transaction one of the best car buying experiences I have had. I am located in Kansas City so to trust a dealer that far away was risky, but they had the exact Liberty that I wanted on their lot. When we spoke on the phone the car was represented honestly and there were no behind closed door negotiations. Their pricing was very fair and their service was better than carmax. We usually go to name brand dealers and play the games, but I will now change my business to support the small dealer businesses too. I will recommend Montgomery Auto to everyone. Thank you Sheri for a great car buying experience!

On another note, complainers usually get more attention than the myriad satisfied customers. It is always worth a call to see who is right.

Inappropriate comments:
For privacy reasons "john smith'" apparently decided not to place his real name on this rambling twisted recollection of the FACTS regarding his intended purchase from us. We are a family owned independent dealership with the RARE customer who cannot be pleased. This young man came to us with HORRIFIC credit and had some negative equity in hs trade. In order to make this work we had agreed to sell him a 2007 Scion TC at cost and take his Jeep in on trade once it was repaired. He was $2000 upside down in his car, I worked with him for two weeks, he carried a check made to Montgomery Auto Group around in his pocket the ENTIRE time, and once we got the MAJOR mechanical issues fixed on his trade in he decided to KEEP his trade and refused to pay for the mechanic work at our other business, All About Rides, to make it even more offensive! He only listed this on here once we went to collect for the mechanic work he rightfully owed on his auto he kept. Feel free to contact us at 417-868-8170 for further details. It saddens me that one crazy young man could be allowed to speak for the great reputation we have built over four solid years as business owners in the ozarks! I will continue to go above and beyond for each customer, no matter what!

Buyer Beware:
I recently stopped into this car lot looking for a different, smaller car. After being directed to more than five different locations, including their own mechanic, for repairs to the car I was hoping trade in, the problem still had not been fixed. The final attempt at a fix was supposed to take anywhere from 45 minutes to one hour. I did not receive my car back for another day and a half. Add to this frustration the fact that the dealership's owner called and left a message on my cell phone using the most vulgar and inappropriate language and I basically only walked away with an awful experience. When I left the situation, I had no new car, my energy had been spent and three weeks had passed. Oh, and Sherry Montgomery started the transaction very kind and helpful. By the end of the three weeks, she became very hateful and offensive. She refused to take my trade or complete the repairs, even though my warranty was paying out money for her mechanic to diagnose and fix the problem. When my car was finally fixed, I decided just to hold onto it. After all the hassle, trouble and worry, I just didn't see the incentive in overpaying for a late-model car which had the check engine light on both times I test-drove it.

I normally don't even write reviews or bother one way or another. I just know the experience I had was truly awful. The staff was lazy, dishonest and completely rude from the very beginning. No one in the shop (All About Rides) calls to alert customers of any problems or to inform them that repairs could take longer than promised. It was up to me to make the calls every single time. I gave them more than enough time and several tries at making the situation right. When I finally told Sherry I was going to just keep my car and forego trading it in for their defective car, she yelled at me and hung up the phone. I have never heard from her since then. It truly is a shame as I was really looking to buy a new car. I had my loan taken care and was forced to drive around with a check for several thousands of dollars for the duration of the process. When I took the check back to my bank, I was left to pay the interest simply because no one with their company moves fast enough to finish a deal. My bank representative was shocked and appalled by how long the whole mess took to wade through.

I will definitely be looking somewhere else now that all the problems with my trade-in have finally been discovered and fixed while it was in and out of three or four shops over the month. I also would like to add that there shop was not the location where the real issue was diagnosed or corrected. They charged for repairs that ended up being uneccessary, expensive and unneeded to bring my car up to the standard for trading in. Also, my trade-in is a newer model and still drove perfectly the entire time. The body is in good condition and it is clean. Sherry kept low-balling the trade value and telling me my car was worthless every time I stopped by to check on the progress of the repairs. One time in their shop (All About Rides) and it was as if everything started falling apart.

Buyer beware.
