Montlake 76

All I needed was some gas, so I drove in, put the nozzle in the tank, slid my card, and then saw "CARD READ ERROR" scroll across the screen. I wasn't able to start over, so I went in to get some help. As I walked in, the guy behind the counter literally snarled at me. I told him the problem and he said nothing. He got up and walked to the door and said he would fix the problem for me. At first it seemed nice that he was actually coming out to the pump to help me out, but then he just made fun of the way I talk all the way out to the pump. Once he helped me, I politely thanked him and ran in to grab a donut while my gas was pumping. When I got back out, he was there, made fun of the way I talk AGAIN, and then told me not to walk away from a machine which is dispensing hazardous chemicals. Yes, he has a point there, but in all my years not once has anyone found it a problem that I or numerous others who go in to make a purchase while gas is pumping. I apologized and told him I did not know that I was required by law to attend to the pump. He could have been cordial and left the exchange at that, he could have been rude and just walked back inside, but instead he turned back and started yelling that I should use my head. I was done being polite and told him he was a real a-hole at which time he said he has been having to put up with my snide remarks the entire time. I'm from the midwest, and I think he interpreted the way I talk as being snide, but overall I think he was just an inherently mean person. I said he had been a smart a-- from the moment I asked for help at which time, and in front of all the other customers he yelled, "Did I mention, f--- you?" and walked back inside! Good luck to him!
