Our studio is run by Mitchell Powell, a master upholsterer of 35 years, and a PA in the AIC. We can reupholster, redesign or custom design any wonderful old or modern item. Unlike some upholsterers, we know historical design, and so can help you choose to stay with or depart from the objects intent. We offer all types of upholstery, from Turkish to Moderne, Monterey to Victorian, Greek Revival to Rococo. Visit us on the website to see the braod range of our portfolio, or to gather ideas. We specialize in antique interiors, or in mixing the old & new together. We do not strip finishes, but specialize in traditional finishes. If you have a wonderful old piece with its finish intact but damaged, we can repair it and save the value of the piece as well. Contrary to modern product advertisements, old finishes are very durable. We run a TRULY green business: We routinely clean and reuse innards (such as hair and down) if possible -- good for the environment and your pocketbook! When refinishing, we are not stripping items, and so do not pollute with vast amounts of chemicals. Traditional finishes tend to be cleaner and safer for the environment.
