I ordered a bookshelf on Nov 7, paid in full and was promised delivery in 6 weeks. When I had not heard from the store by mid-January, I started calling and only once was the phone answered by " Scott" who assured me that " Chris" would call me the next day. The other times I phoned, I reached an answering machine and left a message. In late January I went to the store and was told that the orders always take 3 months and they would never had told me delivery would be in 6 weeks. I said that was not our agreement. I stopped by again a few days after three months and was again given the run around. I received a call either on Feb 13 or Feb 14, that the bookshelf would be delivered on Saturday between 1 and 4 PM. On Saturday the "Cliff the painter " called to say the finish was not dry and he would prefer delivery be postponed until Sunday at 10 AM. He assured me that I " would love my bookshelf". The shelf was not delivered on Sunday and I was not called. I tried phoning the store several times and again, only reached the answering machine. I went to the store the next day, hopping mad, and was met by "Chris" who was very sullen and rude. He claimed that he was trying to reach Cliff in Howell, Mi and Cliff was not returning his calls either - and what was he to do? ( By the way, they explained that they don't return phone calls If that "don't have anything to say") I returned to the store several times and on Monday Feb 24 visit to the store, I was told the book shelf was ready to be delivered later in the week. I informed them I was leaving town the next day , Feb 25, and would return the following Tuesday. I demanded that "Chris" write in his calendar to call me the day after my return. While I returned home there was a phone message promising delivery on Tuesday "before I left town". "Cliff" also left a message that he was in front of my house waiting for me to get home so he could deliver the bookshelf
Again, I called the store to hear that " the mail box was full". I drove to the store on Friday and found a hand written message that the store was closed due to inventory. I found the same message on the door on Saturday and Monday. On Monday, another I met another customer who told me that the "closed for inventory sign" had been up for at least a week. They had also called the store repeatedly and only reached the answering machine. They had ordered a shelf in early December and when it arrived, it was the wrong color. They were assured that the new bookshelf would be ready in about 3 weeks. Like me, they got the run-around.
I told them I had filed a complaint with the Better Busines Bureau and urged them to do file one as well. ( I have not heard back from the Better Business Bureau. I would like m-Live to send an investigative reporter and file a story on " Naked Furniture" Kathleen Singer
