Response to ashratta:
I would like to offer a response to the review posted by ashratta. If you're reading this you know that most often divorce is not easy. New Leaf Mediation Group is committed to assisting our clients through the divorce transition by minimizing the financial impact and emotional toll divorce can bring. While mediation is not appropriate for every divorce, New Leaf's settlement success rate has been nearly 100% for over a decade with reconciliation accounting for a portion of the small percentage of cessation of services, and requirement for litigation accounting for the remaining 1%.

When couples, in particular this reviewer, are contentious and unwilling to meet the mediation requirements of full disclosure and complete transparency, the process will not be successful. I attempted to work with ARatta but ultimately he did not provide full disclosure so the process did not work.

In his review he mentioned a change of location. While that occurred, I did so as his behavior towards me became aggressive. I began to fear for my safety which necessitated calling in a second (male) mediator to be present for the sessions but at a different location with a security guard present in the building.

Unfortunately, even with these measures in place, the client continued to display abusive behavior toward the spouse and New Leaf staff and was unwilling to disclose and provide the required financial documentation for mediation. At that point, services were terminated as it was clear that mediation was not the appropriate path to settle the case.

Finally, the fees collected from ARatta were for services rendered and were reviewed and upheld as such.

In my career as a mediator, I have handled thousands of cases for over a decade. This reviewer was by far one of the most abusive and uncooperative clients I have ever encountered.

Terrible mediation group!:
We had a terrible experience with this mediation group. My ex wife and I were trying to go the mediation route and chose New Leaf Group as our mediator, specifically Melissa Barth. After only 2 sessions, one of which was an initial consultation, there were many issues with Melissa's mediation process. In our opinion, we felt Melissa was not qualified to handle serious divorce cases. She changed the location of the meeting last minute (while the meeting was set weeks prior), she then showed up late to the meeting and unprepared without the documentation that was provided to her. She then had 3 weeks to prepare for the next meeting and was never clear about the information and documentation she needed from us, only to cancel that meeting last minute once again. In an attempt to follow up with Melissa for our file to be complete with all documentation, she never responded back. After a follow up email a week later, her response was unprofessional. After an exchange of multiple emails and her receiving most of the payments for our case, Melissa Barth dropped our case. When asked for the refund she denied refunding the money without providing any statement for billable hours. Melissa made it seem as though she was doing us a favor with our divorce case rather than charging us a fee for her services. In the end, nothing in our divorce case was settled and we lost money and, more importantly, time. Would not recommend New Leaf Group to anyone trying mediation. Save yourself the aggravation, time and money.
