Tips

What to Drink:
The lengthy international list has many options less than $40, but start with one of the 30-plus wines by the glass. The Babich sauvignon blanc from South Africa or the Castle Rock pinot noir from Sonoma (both $8) are great choices. Cocktails--including margaritas and a pernod-laced abomination called Creamy Southern--are less pleasing.

Editorial Reviews

"Always running full throttle", this all-day UWS "hive" features "reliable" French-Med eats dispatched in an atmospheric space channeling the "south of France"; it somehow manages to "feel upscale and informal at the same time", but given the prime-time "noise" and "crush", regulars report it's "best off-peak."

Past the curved zinc bar facing the entrance, a luminously spacious room, fringed by intimate loggias, opens to a tranquil and handsome Upper West Side thoroughfare. The yellow, red and lime green colors of the décor are refreshing and relaxing and contribute to the sensation of free breathing in a cool environment. In this sunny brasserie, diners have plenty of elbow (and leg) room while they...

This restaurant is named after Nice’s major newspaper, and appropriately you’ll find such Provençal classics as pistou, pissaladiere, and velouté of mussels on the menu. You’ll also find innovations such as the creamy, delicious fava-bean tortellini, moist grilled sea bass with artichokes stewed in olive oil, and a rich daube of beef short ribs with chickpea fries. There are specials daily; and...
