Tips

Mixed-up modern comfort food is the speciality at East Passyunk's Noir, taking over the Sticks and Stones space at the far end of the hoppin' Avenue. The bar/restaurant is truly back in black, from the slick servers decked out in that color to the dim and inviting date-friendly atmosphere. Specialties of the "continental" kitchen include fish and chips, chicken pot pie, steak au poivre, arancini and moules frites.

One of a growing # of spots to snag a proper poutine, the delicious/cardiac arrest-inducing Montreal specialty of gravy fries and cheese.

Editorial Reviews

Get a taste of Montreal in South Philly at this dark but cheery pub on the East Passyunk strip, where a Quebec-born, locally raised chef turns out poutine and other, inexpensive beer-friendly grub; a jukebox and quizzo keep the locals coming back.
