Not recommended!:
I first saw Dr. Puzio at Hudson Valley Animal Hospital, a vet facility that is part of Rockland Veterinary. She is listed, however, at North Rockland, so I will include my views here. My cat saw her in late February 2008.
Dr Puzio committed an extreme error in not disclosing to me that my cat was given a highly toxic pain killer called Metacam . Also Puzio did not follow the manufacturer's protocol to not use Metacam if the animal had kidney impairment. In addition the cat was given oral Metacam. This is off-label and is not recommemded by the manufacturer.
Later my cat was given a second injection of Metacam by another vet, Derek A. Gadino, at Hudson Valley. Again I was not told of Metacam's usage nor told of need for a blood test and exam before the second dose. That injection was contraindicated by the drug manufacturer; additionally the lack of blood test specifically contradicted FDA and Metacam labeling.
Giving Metacam to cats is often risky with high rates of kidney and liver failure. And to not follow protocols is even riskier.
Two weeks after receiving the second injection my cat started to get sick and six weeks later he was dead.
