Oak Valley Stables

Best barn ever! This is by far the best riding/stables I have ever been to. I have boarded 6 horses here for over 14 years. Every one has the best care possible. My 4 children have been under the instruction of Nora Reams. My oldest daughter (now 20 and at TAMU) won Grand Champion in Open Jumping at the 4 H Texas State show her senior year of high school. My other daughter is 14 now and was champion in our district and reserve grand in over fences at the state level. She is also learning to train our 4 year old gelding. My 2 boys do not compete much but enjoy horses. This is all thanks to Nora's excellent instruction. She truly has a heart of gold and goes above and beyond to help everyone. Every animal on the property receives top notch care. Do not believe the negative review. This person obviously does not know Oak Valley Stables at all. Charlie is Nora's elderly uncle and only works at the stable, living there to ensure the horses are checked on around the clock. His cat Storm is fully vaccinated and healthy. He has never had ringworm in his life. Any animal that is sick/injured will be treated correctly. There is plenty of room for the horses stabled there. There is not, and never has been, over 70 horses. I am not usually in group lessons (I have private), but there are not 30 lesson horses available, so the negative review again is a gross exaggeration at best. Nora does have to yell to be heard, but this is normal. She only has positive comments for her students and works hard to tailor each lesson to the individual. As for flies, it is a stable. Flies come with the territory. The place is cleaned daily and everything is done to help minimize the problem. Again, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to learn to ride (any age!) and/or board their horse.
