High quality audio at a recession effective price:
For several months I have been scoping out a new stereo system for my '96 Lincoln Town Car. My main hobby is in Live Concert Sound Production, so I felt at least semi knowledgeable about what quality sounds like. I have shopped around to several well known names such as Crutchfield, Al & Ed's Autosound, Fry's Electronics, Galpin Auto Sports, and Best Buy. No competitors quality and customer service can compare. My story involved a trip I made to Fry's Electronics. I was there early one morning to see if they had a demo of the head unit I was interested in. I walked around for an hour, and reluctantly a service member finally caught on to my browsing. I asked him if he had the unit I was looking for in stock. Their representative told me they didn't have it, and recommended me to a business I had not heard of called Pacific Stereo, that had a much larger selection. It was nearby and I figured there would be no harm in browsing. The representative I met with was Steve. I had talked to him for a little and explained that I wanted to do a full system redo with an amplifier, new speakers, head unit and sub. He told me no problem and he pulled out the head unit I was interested in, I contemplated the features incorporated with that unit and compared them to a competing brand I had also read about, which I also asked him to pull out. I read the features and decided I wanted to put together a package, just to see how much the whole system would have cost, which I had attempted to do at the above listed locations. I then asked him about speakers, I had heard of a few high quality name brands, but I had not heard how those sound in comparison to other standing push button units you can hear at any store. I walked out to show him my car and current setup up, and the he asked me to follow him. We walked up to a very nice car, and he said get in. It was his personal car, not a stand in a store or even a company owned car. It was HIS personal car. He then played a few very clear and clean tracks. I was absolutely amazed, not only with the quality but because he took me directly to and environment that is applicable, so I could see first hand what it sounded like. After that we went back into the store, and discussed the rest of how I wanted my car set up. I was not as knowledgeable about the quality of the other components and attempted to pick his brain about what items were quality. He was VERY knowledgeable regarding each aspect of the system. He knows what quality is and what would work well together in my environment. We then get to talking price. My system included A Pioneer AVIC z110B Navigation system, a pair of Focal 165Kr2's for my front set, a pair of Focal Access 690ca1's for my rear speakers, a JL 10We-V3 10" subwoofer, and an Alpine PDX-5 Channel Amplifier to power it all . At most other stores I had tried that system would cost, without installation, approximately $4,000 - $4,500. In good faith for the business and competition, I will not say the exact amount I payed for everything, but I have authorized Steve to not only allow patrons to contact me and ask, but to even see my set up if they would like. Due to the nature and scope of work, the whole job took just under a business day. I am absolutely thrilled with the work, courtesy and professionalism of their business, I wholeheartedly recommend them to ALL people looking to perform any aftermarket service to their vehicle! They are my new "go-to" guys. A 5 Stars.
