I know I have several friends in the Jewelry business, working and or have the talent, skill, experience and or have that natural ability to 'know' jewelry; not just the differences the quality of fine jewelry, but also understand the character, appearance, essence, and the distinctiveness and or constitution of each different piece of jewelry. These talented, skilled individuals can perceive, appreciate, and distinguish the differences of gems, the quality of metals, and each design. I would never even try to argue or disagree with any of them, and I would never presume to state that I would know at a glance, or the feel of a piece of jewelry whether it was a true gem or an imitation. I will state with confidence that I can tell the difference between cheap custom jewelry and fine quality jewelry.
I have been treated nicely at various jewelry stores and or counters; however, I can tell when someone is talking to me as if ‘they think I am unable to afford’ what I am looking at… just because of the way I am dressed. How can I tell you ask? How about being waiting on by the same sales clerk, stopping at the store on my way home from work…
However, I just want to state for the record that I have never received the honest, caring, sincerity of customer service as I have received from Parkway Jewelers on Jordan Parkway in Whitehall.
I knew this almost to 20 years ago when, on a whim, I entered the store and asked if could enlarge a ring for me. It had been my birth-mother’s wedding ring and died when I was only 11. Through the years I would randomly ask various jewelers and was told because of the scalping design it could not be done; until that day I walked into Parkway Jewelers. He not only enlarged it, right then and there, charging a very surprising, although very reasonable price; the quality of work was superior, unless I would point out the tiny flaw in one of the scalping design one would never know. Then, 12 years after he enlarged the ring, I had to ask if he could resize the ring again, since I had had surgery and lost 100 pounds, I was afraid of losing the ring.)
Over the years I have taken a never-ending quantity of pierced earrings to him to replace the posts w/lever lock clasp, (if possible), or replace the hooks w/lever lock hooks, cuz I keep losing earrings. And I have been advised that the earrings really weren’t worth the extra cost; however, if I asked he still did the work, & treated each piece of jewelry as if he repairing a valuable heirloom!
As long as they are in business, I will continue to be a faithful customer while recommending Parkway Jeweler’s to everyone!
