I was born and raised near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but went to college across the state at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. During my medical training at Duke University in North Carolina, I met my wife who was from San Diego. After completing my training in urologic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, we decided to return to sunny San Diego to settle down.
