Please find yourself a Vet you can trust! I turned to Kathleen Ford once when I needed support and guidance regarding my beloved dog who was having behavioral problems. She insisted that I turn him over to her to be place. When I said no, she called me frequently asking that I reconsider. At a low point in my life, I turned my loving dog over to her care and tried to stay in touch with her concerning him. I remember crying over the phone once when talking to her because I was so worried about whether or not I had made the right decision. I will never forget what she said to me. Her words continue to haunt me and frighten me that there are actual vets out there that treat people like this. She said "i don't rescue people, I rescue animals." that was the last I heard from her and my dog that I have no idea what ever happened to. I just needed reassurance that I did the right thing and that he was well. However, she dismissed me once she got a hold of my $1500 purebred dog. Although I admire her for her love of animals, especially the ones she thinks is not suitable for your home, I am very cautious of her intentions. If you have a purebred animal that she works with in terms of placing in qualified homes, BEWARE! Please save yourself some time and find a vet that cares not only for your animal but for YOU! I have since researched what pet owners should do when they have an animal with behavioral issues. I had no idea that there were animal behaviorist out there to help us instead of turning our loving animals to a rescue. This was so unnecessary! If Kathleen Ford cared about ME, should might have made this recommendation rather than talk me into turning over my beautiful dog to her to be placed with a new family. I still miss my loving dog...so very much and hope, wherever he is, he's okay. I am not just a disgruntle frustrated or bitter dog owner. I have my Ph.D. in psychology and a MSW in clinical social work so now I evaluate vets who say encourage dog owners to make choices they are not comfortable with.. Love your pet and love yourself....find a good, loving, kind and considerate vet!
