This is clearly a very popular restaurant:
This is clearly a very popular restaurant in DC for Indian food. We showed up without reservations a Saturday evening and were able to get a table after a pleasant half hour wait at the bar during which we enjoyed a cocktail. The food is well prepared and presented and the service attentive.

Some of the dishes may sound familiar, but the preparation and presentation are beyond ordinary. The chapli kebab...

This lively Penn Quarter Indian restaurant makes a contemporary statement with its decor (tamarind hues, clean lines, blond wood) and menu (a lighter, healthier take on traditional dishes from across India). A tamarind-date dressing tops crisp spinach greens; there's mint chutney and yogurt sauce in which to dip barbecued mango shrimp; and clay oven–baked black cod hints of fresh dill, star...

This trendy Indian restaurant pairs an adventurous wine list with spicy fare in a supersleek setting. The chef, London export Vikram Sunderam (from Bombay Brasserie), comes from a town where curries never get short shrift. He has prepared a menu of traditional delights, like a fiery green masala chicken, alongside newer, more inspired ones, like green chili mussels, black cod with star anise,...
