Take Your Business Elsewhere:
I have been a Reiner customer for a few years and had them do a full oil to gas boiler conversion and and a brand new A/C retrofit. So needless to say I have spent 10s of thousands of dollars with them. However, lately I have been very dissatisfied with them as it comes to our high efficiency Lennox boiler. It seems every year there is something wrong with it that requires a service call. If had numerous parts breakdown and many leaky joints. I can accept a part breaking down, but leaky joints I am not happy about and says something about the lack of care the install tech had for my install. Well the last issue is really the reason for this review. An expansion tank failed (only about 5 years old) and they replaced it. They had to drive to the parts supplier to get the part (and billed me for that time 30 minutes) and charged me more than double for the part ... and that is with my 10% parts discount since I have a service contract with them (which btw I will NOT be renewing). How do I know it was double you ask? The tech told me where he had to go to get the part so I called the supplier and asked how much the part was. It was about $38.59 +tax for me Joe Public. And obviously Reiner has a contract with the supplier and is certainly paying less than what I was quoted for. I was billed $74.48 +tax after my discount ($82.75 before discount). Seriously? I understand they are entitled to mark up parts, but 100%, come on. I discussed this with the Service Manager and he said that is the normal markup in the industry and I could have got the part myself but the Technician never offered that as an option. If he did, I would have in order to get the part at half price and save on 30 minutes of their $107 labor rate. I have a hard time that 100% markup on parts is normal in this industry. I will certainly be taking my boiler service and air conditioning service business elsewhere.
