Information EVERYONE who is about to use or is using Gold Acceptance Corporation, formally Reliant Financial Corporation, should read. I too am unfortunately stuck with Gold Acceptance Corporation, at first they were nice, but god forbid you be even ONE DAY late. I stumbled across one of their web pages for dealer instructions and forms for dealers to download that use Gold Acceptance as the finance company. The web page is:
If you look at the forms and instructions, you will find a lot of contradicting, misleading, and what I believe is illegal practices. On the contract for the GPS disclosure, that everyone has to sign, it clearly shows that the device “will be installed at absolutely no cost to you”. However, if you look at the GPS information it clearly tells the dealer “the $250 total for the GPS may be included in the amount financed, on top of maximum advance and is therefore essentially paid for by the customer rather than the dealer”. Under the GAP instructions, it says that the cost for GAP is $150, but the sale to the customer for GAP is $500, and that the GAP coverage is automatic on every deal. Therefore, they are making you pay for the GPS device, but say that you don’t own it and can’t touch it, and they are selling you $150 GAP coverage for $500. On the website are also instructions on how to install the GPS, and therefore remove it too. After all, you paid for it…
