The leasing manager of this property is RACIST and DISCRIMINATES against applicants. My fiance and I are a Young Interracial couple. We were looking for a place to start a family, we know river edge is a good area. We contacted the leasing manager in JUNE this summer, only to find out this AUGUST that she was never going to rent an apartment to us! She NEVER asked us about our income! Because she clearly did not want to show us apartments! It was like pulling teeth just to see the 4 apartments we did see. She NEVER returned our messages or contacted us for any follow up. But we were patient in waiting for the right space to become available. She was ALWAYS RUDE TO US, AND RUSHED US during our visit! When we are making an investment! We were still always polite to her , because we really like the area! Because we could see how impatient she was we settled on an apartment we saw a few weeks ago. We saw a place on a MONDAY and APPLIED WEDS. She never called us back after we called the office to let them know, WE LEFT OUR APPLICATION IN THE MAILBOX. SHE DIDNT EVEN LOOK AT OUR APPLICATION! AND THREW IT OUT!!!!!!(claims she never got it) Via EMAIL she says the apartment we applied for was "taken", she wasnt even referring to the right apartment!!! Then she says it IS still available and we APPLY AGAIN RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER AND HAND HER THE APPLICATION. SHE DENIES IT WITHOUT EVEN CHECKING BOTH OF OUR CREDIT! My fiance and I BOTH filled out the application yet she neglected to tell us we need 2 SEPARATE APPLICATIONS after she WASTED OUR TIME FOR MONTHS!!! NOW I have a HARD INQUIRY on my credit report and the application WAS NOT even completed properly! DO NOT VISIT THIS PROPERTY!!! We called and explained that they would need BOTH of our incomes and credit and that they did not do the application correctly and they did NOT respond. ALSO THE APPLICATIONS ARE LEFT IN THE RENT CHECK MAILBOX, SO DO THEY "LOSE" PEOPLE'S RENT AS WELL??? The leasing manager CLEARLY discriminated against us by not even allowing us to properly apply for an apartment ON PURPOSE which is ILLEGAL in the state of new jersey. If you are unfortunate enough to end up looking here, make sure you ask questions because the manager cherry picks which apartments she will show you and withholds important information. I HAVE THE EMAILS that show the leasing manager was clearly LYING to us and REFUSING to let us apply for an apartment! I wish we could have known how evil she was before wasting our entire summer being patient with her. We have successfully rented 2 more expensive places before this without a problem, and every other agent we spoke to for other properties in the area has been so much more professional this is a disgrace! We've never been treated like this before! The joke is on the leasing manager because with the way the market is moving, the tenants leaving NYC (to come to nj), that still have jobs and stable income, are all people and couples that look like US. DO NOT look here.
