Had called up Bruce to do some drainage work at my house. I got his card from home depot. He was prompt in getting out to the house and was eager to start work. Said it would be 2-3days. He checked out what I wanted done and gave me a quote of $1000. No problem. I agreed. I cut him 1 check for $500 and then said I would give him the last check upon completion. Day 1, he plowed through all the money and then some on parts for this job. Came to me saying we have to readjust the quote. Now he says it was $1500. Reluctant I agreed. As the days progressed so did my money expenditure. He needed gas money, money for his friend, money for parts.. it just never ended. And everytime I gave him a $20 he'd have to readjust the quote. By day 5 my patience was starting to dwindle. He was no where near finishing. Not to mention he kept disappearing from the job. Surveillance video shows him constantly leaving for hours on end. Finally I told him to get the job done by the week's end(Friday). Said no prob, no prob. That tuesday he needed more money, he came to me and tacked on a few hundred more and redid the quote(again). I gave him a check of $600 and told him it better be done by friday. Said no prob and he needed to get to the bank asap. He came back from bank worked 15mins and left. I asked him what time he was coming back..said 9am sharp. The following morning, I had to call him at 1030am wondering where he was at. Said he was on his way? Arrived, sat in his car for 20mins, got out for 15mins, left the job at 1109am, came back at 1130am, left at 1207, back at 1217 and disappeared at 1250pm. I left work to go home and see what the heck was going on. I waited till 530pm and after I didn't hear from him, I told him he was fired from this job. He calls pleading and pleading and begging to come back. I said no, he was to flighty. His personal life was more important that doing the job. I was extra annoyed cause I just gave the guy another $600 check. So after a heated argument over the phone I hung up. He showed back up to my house on friday to get his shovels and had an argument with my new crew and had to be escorted off my property. Then today he calls my wife, who then called me and I had to call him to see what he wanted. Tells me he wants to come back and undo what my new crew did and that it was all wrong. I was like dude, it's done and you need to stop contacting us. I told him if he calls, texts or comes to the house again, the police will be called. He just can't take no for an answer. He should have taken his job more seriously. I bended, and gave him the benefit of the doubt. I was overly gracious, and kind. He just couldn't stay on the job site long enough. A 2-3day project was now 8 and was no where near complete. Surveillance video over the course of 8days shows he kept disappearing which was why the job wasn't getting done. He under quoted me, kept leaving the job site and his work quality was rather poor. Gutter drains were to far away from the house(2ft) in some places, pipes weren't deep enough, pipes weren't glued in spots. It was just a royal mess. The new crew tore all his out and redid the entire thing properly and completed my job in 1.5 days. This is what happens when you stay on site..

So I would not recommend this guy. He needs a better work ethic. Not sure what his personal life was like, but if you want to keep a job and do a good job, see the job to the end. Don't leave, don't under quote and then keep asking for more and more money and have some communication.
