An Update on Theirry Rautureau's Loulay Kitchen & Bar:
Since before Rover's even officially closed, The Chef in the Hat has been dropping broad hints about a new project. He's still got Luc, of course, his informal bistro at 2900 E. Madison, but he's also told a lot of folks about his new venture Loulay, in honor of his family birthplace in the Charentes-Maritimes district of western France.
We now know that it will be taking over the old Alvin...
Will Rautureau's New Restaurant Be Loulay?:
Pictures on Facebook over the weekend showed the Chef and his wife celebrating their last dinner and pulling down the Rover's sign on the side of the house. If one were to believe the writing on the (Facebook) wall, the Chef's new place, long rumored, will be called Loulay (the name of the village in southwestern France where Thierry was born) and will be downtown at Sixth and Union.
As Rover's Ends, Rautureau Hints at New Restaurant:
Rover's will be celebrating its last night of service on Sunday, and don't expect to be able to snag a reservation. The place is sold out.
