Salon on Crescent: Marlene Glaser:
Marlene Glaser is amazing. Not only has she always done exactly what I asked (two inches off really does mean two inches with her, and same with color -- checks that we're on exactly the same page before we do anything and while we're in the process) she's always been professional, honest, and super-helpful. She's never given me the hard-sell on some certain product that I must simply have. In fact, she's never pushed any kind of product, or made me feel inferior because I'm not using the world's most expensive/trendy-brand shampoo. Love.

Also: I love that she schedules through Schedulicity.com because it's basically the most convenient thing ever. Takes no time for me to see when the closest appointment is without having to call anyone. She seems to keep her appointment times promptly too...I've never had to languish waiting for my turn, or felt rushed to get done. However she does it, she does it.

Marlene has the magic. In her chair, I always feel as though I'm in the hands of a close friend even though we only see each other every six to eight weeks, and I feel like a rock star every single time I leave the salon. She knows everyone in Birmingham and seriously loves this city. I recommend her to everyone.

Salon on Crescent Marlene Glaser:
First let me say I have visited this salon many times before and have seen Marlene Glaser each time. I don't know about the other stylists here, but Marlene has always done a nice job on my hair.

But the last time I went was horrible. I think Marlene was in a weird mood or something, just having returned from vacation. I went in with hair at my waist and asked her to even it out. No more than three or four inches. And this lady takes more than EIGHT inches off of my hair. It is barely past my shoulders now! I don't know WHAT kind of funk she was in that made her completely disregard what I had asked her to do and decide to hack off all of my hair that I spent the last three years growing out, but it must have been a serious one. And it's not even a good haircut! It looks terrible and is basically the opposite of what I asked for. It's flat and choppy, it looks terrible and it was beautiful before. As a customer I feel violated. I trusted her with me hair and she abused that trust by not listening to a word I said.

After this experience with Marlene I will not let her come anywhere near my hair with a ten foot pole out of fear that I might end up bald this time. Even though I have gotten a number of good haircuts from her, I would take them all back to just have the trim I wanted instead of this awful new style Marlene felt inspired to put on my head. Do not go to Marlene Glaser! Although you might get her on a good day and get a nice haircut, there's a very real chance you get her on a day when she's in a weird mood and she might just decide to get hack-happy with her garden shear like fingers.

Not worth the risk, just go somewhere else.
