Great store, knowledgeable owner:
I visited Scituate Music Co. for the first time a couple of weeks ago along with a couple of other music stores in the South Shore area. Being from Florida I didn't know what to expect since all we have is Guitar Center and George's Music. Both are okay and I'm friends with people who work both places but they don't know too much about what they're stock. I usually know more and tell them about what they're selling. Gerry knows more about guitars and equipment than ANYONE I've ever talked to in a store and I've been playing since 1967. He was somewhat direct and a little curt in the way he talked but I wasn't offended (I'm 57 and grew up in N.J.). His selection was amazing and he knew about everything I asked about. I was also impressed with his prices. A Tele that's selling for $1100 other places for only $900. I bought a Gretsch two weeks before I went to Mass. or I would've walked out with that baby. The other stores I visited were okay and the employees friendly but they didn't have the selection or the prices or the knowledge that Gerry has. Just don't go in with an attitude and accept the fact that he's an expert and like all experts, he's very opinionated. It doesn't mean you have to agree with him. I'm buying my next guitar from him.

Completely disagreed:
He may be not the most friendly and "unkind" person, but when it comes to guitars and musical instruments he knows what he's doing and gives some of the best advice. I wanted a Les Paul Gibson that I was heading in to buy, and he recommended that instead of buying the guitar, I should buy a new amplifier, because each guitar has its own distinct sound, but with a better amplifier, I could make it sound alot better than with a new guitar. No questions, he knows what hes doing even if he is unfriendly.

WORST store ever!!!!!!:
this was the worst store I have ever visited PERIOD. don't waste your time. the owner is so unfriendly and unhelpful it's almost humorous. I bought a Martin guitar acoustic from guitar center and went to find a humidifier and tuner from the store so I tried it out. I went in and the owner was so unfriendly. I asked him for a planet waves humidifer. One that sticks between the strings rather than the snake one. He said I don't know why you'd ever want that with scorn. It was embarassing. I told him it was less obtrusive and less likely to damage it and he laughed in my face. Next, I asked what tuners he had. He was set to sell me a fender sparkly purple tuner which looked like something prince would use. I told him I had an acoustic but he said i should buy the $50 one for reasons that didn't apply to the guitar I have. He said it would tune when the guitar was plugged in but duh I have an acoustic (non-electric). DONT BOTHER. BOTTOM LINE. If there was a lower score than 1 i'd give it.
