On January 26 2018 I got an estimate from Sears Home Improvement to reface the kitchen on a house we purchased two days prior
Two people came and quoted me a price, they measured my kitchen and I chosen the material and I asked: if we sign this contract tonight how soon can you start and what's the target end date for this project? The lady estimator response was: if you sign tonight how soon do you need it done?
I explained to her that my current lease on the rental property we lived ended on February 28 and new tenants were moving in on March 1st, so the project had to end on the last week of February in order for us to move on time
She said that if we signed that night the project will definitively finish on time for us to move before the end of the month.
I paid for half the job up front, $8850.00
They started the work in the meddle of March and I could not move into my new home on time, I had to pay another month rent $2375.00 and I lost my month and a half deposit of $3512.50, but on top of it I lost a good relationship with the landlord, he lost the new tenants
I feel I was lied and mislead, I called several times and spoke with some nasty and condescending individuals, no one takes responsibility for this and now on top of everything else my pull out drawer guide channels gave way last night and so far no one called me back, I spoke with a customer care representative and he promised me a quick response, quarter to 10AM and no fallow up from Sears yet
I also didn't mention a bunch of other little things, like them trying to hick up the original price using scare tactics, they order the wrong amount of material and they measured my cabinets wrong
The following pictures will show the poor craftsmanship and low quality materials used
A word of advise to anyone considering a home improvement project !!! Watch out for fast talkers that hide behind a national brand such as Sears!!!
You won't believe how hard it is to talk with any one there, and than you hear on the news about the hard time this company is having and you understand why
