sooner music store unfriendy even downright hateful:
I have been playing bluegrass and raised in virginia, kentucky area most my life. I was shocked at the hateful treatment i recieved from the owners. I was cussed at and threatened physically by a staff member. People I am not joking. Do not bring your children there these people are a 5 star for being unprofessional..I have picked banjo for many years and as I was on my way to see my newly born grandson and I saw this store on 15th street in midwest city. I went in and was impressed with the number of banjo guitars in there. but i didnt have my pics so i asked employee for some banjo pics which he gladly gave me and i was on my way cause i was in market for a banjo. I SAW A GIBSON 1926 TB1 MASTERTONE. wow i have owned a few pre-wars so i picked it up and strummed the strings saw the 3rd string was out of tune..as i was checking to see if string slippped this hateful old lady came and took it away from me and said i didnt know what i was even holding..wow i am a pretty good picker and raised on bluegrass mountain style in southwest virginia eastern kentucky area.. she was rude and everyone in store was looking at me. i was shocked emotionally and very stunned. she began to be louder and ranted on about me having the picks..one employee felt so bad he said to her that he gave them to me.everyone was looking and i just said maam why are you treating me like this..she became a lunatic and yelled at me to get the blank blank out of her store..by this time i felt so bad for the kids who were waiting for there lessons.she had no respect for anyone.so I walked away and at the door turned around and asked her again why she treated me this way..she told her husband to get me out. he shockingly told me he would physically push me out the door. by that time i was in tears in a daze wandering what i did to these people. all i did was played a banjo like ive done in gruhns music in nashville or first quality in louisville..there banjoes are n tune and they want you to pick it cause if you can play its good for business to have a lively music store.its a music store right?? there is so much tension and its so unfriendly at sooner music on 15th street. lone wolf music in okc is a much better place. people bluegrass is fun.. but picking this music is only part of it.. there is a character and a way of acting that goes with being a mountain musician....these people seriously are out of touch and evidently have allowed there pride go to there head..listen they can pick it but they dont live it..i have sat down with some of the greatest mountain pickers ralph stanley jimmy martin and many more and folks these are great mentors in our mountain styles..i have had others hand me there 60,000 dollar banjo and say pick it..and this old lady is throwing me out and cussing me in front customers over a pic and over me finding a tuning for this 3800 banjo..you know that banjo was good i wanted it.. i have never been so disrespected in my life..by the way i called several times to ask for an explanation and offered to sit down and pick a number with her just to be country nice..this is what happened they called the police and made me the villian and them the victim.. im ashamed of these people in midwest city.. went to police station to file as complaint and even though really nothing can be done i was glad to meet a nice policeman who says he plays bluegrass and would never shop there..so i took to the net and wow i have seen so many complaints about sooner music on 15th street saying how unfriendly these people are..thank you so much for reading this..please spare yourself and your children dont go in there..read the reviews they are real...
