Spring Restaurant Review:
Open for Lunch; Dinner will start Feb. 19, 2016. A Valentine's Day menu ($85) is available on February 13th & 14th from 5:30 p.m.-11 p.m. --- Church & State owner Yassmin Sarmadi and chef Tony Esnault are behind Spring in the historic Douglas Building in downtown L.A. Drawing inspiration from Southern France, the menu offers such dishes as marinated sea bream crudo and saffron risotto.
Industrial but sleek, this Downtown beer specialist wins “good watering hole” status with lively communal tables running down the center of a long, narrow room (bonus: a dog-friendly patio) and an “awesome” selection of domestic craft brews on tap; there’s also a small menu of sandwiches to soak up the suds.
Perfectly situated between bars and clubs of a much louder nature, this one serves as an optimal point of relaxation and restoration. There's just nothing terribly frenetic going on here, unless you're caught in the rush of beer nerds. Spring St. does sell wine, but they focus on the brews. Plus charcuterie and sandwiches and all the slightly upscale bar food basics.
