Murderer buried in same cemetery as Victim:
Jessica McHenry will always live on in her family and friend’s heart as a loving and caring daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and friend. She was fourteen years old when she was kidnapped and murdered on June 11th, 1991. She was buried at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Livermore, CA. Nearly twenty years later the case was solved, as to who had committed such a horrible crime. Derek Moncado was the alleged murderer - detectives discovered that his DNA matched that taken from Jessica’s body. After being interviewed, Moncado hung himself in his prison cell. After believing that Jessica could finally rest in peace, knowing that this killer could never hurt again, the family discovered that Moncado had a Catholic service and was buried in the same cemetery as Jessica. This has been a very emotional and disappointing discovery for the family. It is of great disturbance that the family has to know that their loved one’s killer lays in the same place as her. The family has made numerous attempts to contact the church, including the Oakland Diocese, to have Moncado’s body removed. The only solution the church has provided is to move Jessica’s body, which has been resting there in peace for 18 years. The church is condoning a murderer to rest there more rightfully then his murdered victim. Please join us in our efforts to get Derek Moncado removed from St. Michael’s Cemetery in Livermore, CA. The family can only imagine the reaction of other families that have loved ones that rest there as well.
