St. Vincent de Paul was founded 176 years ago by Frederic Ozanam, an idealistic 20-year-old student in Paris, France. Inspired by the exemplary charitable life led by St. Vincent de Paul (1581-1660), he and his friends dedicated themselves to serving the poor through a group they called the Society of St Vincent de Paul.
