Starbelly is a casual and friendly neighborhood restaurant in San Francisco’s lively Castro District. Parking: Parking is not that tough on Market at night, surprisingly; otherwise, there’s a lot at Noe on the north side of Market.

The Extras: The last thing anyone wants to order at a restaurant--spaghetti--is one of the best and most popular dishes here: housemade, light, spicy and flavored with fresh basil.

"Creative drinks and rustic comfort food" are on order at this Castro Californian, where the menu includes "delicious pizzas" and "unique beers on tap", and the "back patio" is perfect for lunch "on a warm day"; though dissenters say service isn't always "on the ball", at least it's "well priced for the area."

Like its sister restaurant Beretta, Starbelly is a trendy operation. The small, design-rich dining room feels like a well-appointed lodge, with multi-hued wood slats along the walls and a long, blonde bar with beer and wine bottles lined up neatly on the shelves. Despite a somewhat haughty, hipster vibe, the kitchen churns out pleasant California snack food with a seasonal bent at good prices....
