Terrible Place to live:
It is not very often that I feel compelled to write a review about a product, or service, much less have I ever had to write a review about an apartment complex. What spurred me to write this review of Steeplechase Apartments in Greensboro North Carolina 27407, is the horrific experiences that me and my family were forced to endure in the two years that we lived there. My goal is not to cause them to lose future business, but to protect anyone that considers themselves a good natured, normal functioning human being from signing their name on a contract they are SURE to REGRET. The only people that deserve to live in this community are the very people that are causing it to be such a horrible place to live. You can rest assured that all accounts in this review will be factual, as these are experiences I've had that are directly related to my time wasted living here. First off, like any other organization, all problems start at the top. In this case thats the "community manager" who supposedly controls all functions of the renting office. Well, that is until you actually need something "to be done". You can expect a fake smile, and a canned response. Almost every issue brought to her results in her saying that HER boss must approve, but that approval never seems to come. In fact, neither does a phone call, or email, or even so much as a courtesy letter from the so called "boss". You might be wondering what kind of issues I am refering to. Well let's see, how about a mechanical gate that WE PAY FOR, not being in operation for literally the full two years we lived there. You know, the gate thats supposed to keep intruders out, but never does because that would require it to actually work! I complained when I had numerous occurences of DRUG remnants, and DRUG PARAPHERNALIA left on the breezeway directly outside my apartment door. Not to mention a bottle of urine that was left leaning on the wall adjacent to my apartment. Sounds pretty bad? We havent even broken the surface as to how this community runs, and the issues it presents for it's tenants. I made numerous trips to the renting office, and pleaded with them to repair these gates, and restore some control over the community, but the COMMUNITY MANAGER in typical fashion lied to me over and over again, saying that it would be done, but remains in the same state of disrepair even to this day. Any real community manager, will tell you that safety of the community is always a priority, but at STEEPLECHASE at ADAMS FARM safety is a burden and the entire management staff cant be bothered. There are no security cameras, no security patrols, no neighborhood watch, no courtesy officers, many of the breezeways are dimmly lit or not at all, the pool and other ammenities belong to the entire city of GREENSBORO thanks to the open door policy of the community. Yup, sometimes you cant even find parking that YOU PAY FOR because people that don't live there are too busy using your parking spots, so they can use the pool YOU PAY FOR. Don't worry, you get to smell the weed they burn while hanging out at the pool every day. At this point you might be thinking, hmmm this sounds like one really upset tenant. Well I AM very upset behind the entire experience, and just to make sure you understand my frustrations, let me fill you in on the experience I had on my LAST DAY as a tenant of STEEPLECHASE APARTMENTS AT ADAMS FARM IN GREENSBORO. On my last day as a tenant of Steeplechase, while waiting for my movers to arrive, both me and my wife were the unfortunate witnesses to a shooting of an unarmed woman by her husband. Even after my nine years of law enforcement experience, nothing can quite prepare you having to see what we witnessed that day, and nothing will ever fully erase the sight of a man fatally shooting his wife approximately twenty feet in front of you. While crime can and does happen everywhere, there are definately things that can be done to prevent and deter. Steeplechase Apartments at Adams Farm in my opinion, does none of it. I've had numerous verbal and written conversations with the community manager with regards, and she has done nothing to change or implement new policies to keep the tenants safe. Would you like to see some web links to articles pertaining to Steeplechase? They paint a pretty good picture of what life will be like living there. (all seperate incidents)

(was primary witness to this one)

(was changing oil outside under my car during this one)

(this one just occured over the last weekend)
Howd you like those links? Pretty interesting stories about life in the ghetto....but wait... it's not the ghetto, because Steeplechase apartments are not cheap by any stretch of the imagination. In my opinion, the problems that exist are due to poor management by BELL LEASING. These are the guys that the "community manager" like to pass the buck on. They would never allow these problems to go on in their other complexes, but anything goes in Steeplechase. How about maintenance staff entering your apartment at any/all times to do nonsense air conditionor maintenance whether your home or not. Change your lock?...expect a sternly written letter from management about how you cant do that, and how YOUR IN VIOLATION OF THE LEASE. But nevermind how THEY ARE IN VIOLATION OF THE LEASE BY NOT FIXING THE GATE YOU PAY FOR. IT SPECIFICALY SAYS THAT IN YOUR LEASE, BUT AGAIN, ITS ABOVE THE PAY GRADE OF THE REMEDIAL STAFF WORKING IN THE MANAGEMENT OFFICE. At this point I could continue to ramble on and on about how you'll never find parking, getting your car keyed or broken into(have alot of that too), the smell of weed in the morning, or the general lack of class displayed by the staff of the management office, but if reading up to this point has not yet convinced you why you should NOT live in STEEPLECHASE APARTMENTS AT ADAMS FARM in GREENSBORO, then maybe, just maybe your EXACTLY the type of tenant that would enjoy life at STEEPLECHASE. Everything I've written in my review is based on my OPINION, formed by two years of living in Steeplechase. I am absolutely disgusted in the way they market themselves, vs how they treat their tenants. If you are currently looking for an apartment, I urge you to look at other options, as I'd hate to see yet another good person have to take a step backwards in life. Leasing from Bell Leasing, and living in STEEPLECHASE in MY OPINION is like taking a step backwards over a cliff overlooking one helluva ghetto!!! And to those that live there, and take offense to what I've said, remember its only my opinion. Decide for yourself, but remember that failure to be part of the solution is equal to being part of the problem. Good luck to all! God is always good, but he was even better when he allowed me and my family to leave Steeplechase Apartments at Adams Farm for the very last time.....
