Worst Escrow Company Ever!!:
We are currently purchasing a home in San Diego, CA (bank owned) The seller selected Stuart Title based out of Glendale, CA.
If anyone is considering choosing them for escrow, I would highly recommend not doing so. Our experience has been a complete nightmare, not to mention the escrow officer that handled our case was completely unprofessional, has no sense of urgency, and frankly does not care at all about the customers being serviced. Unfortunately for us, we are stuck with them and are at their mercey to close our loan. If it was up to us, they would have already been fired.
There are many many things that went wrong in our escrow process. For example, the property was being sold by Bank of America, however Bank of NY was on the title. The seller sent the Power of Attorney letter to escrow. Escrow forwarded it to lender, but did not catch the fact that the document had expired the previous year. The escrow company dragged their feet on the issue, took no responsibility, tried to throw our loan officer under the bus when confronted on the issue, and also took an extra 4 days to get the document updated. Everything on our end of the deal as the buyer was completed and ready to close. It has now been well over a week, documents are signed, they have our money for down payment, and closing costs, and we still have not closed due to issues with escrow. Looks like we will be waiting another weekend.
I sincerely hope this deters anyone from using Stewart Title for escrow.
