Taylor's concept came about in 1980 when David Taylor opened a small Fresh Fish Market and Seafood "cooked to order" kitchen in Glendale, Arizona. The "Shanty" as it was called had four benches in a dirt parking lot for seating. There was no beer or wine so guests were encouraged to BYOB.
