Temple Beth El

Temple Beth El was created in 1960 with the merger of Temple Beth Israel and Sinai Temple. However, our current building was built in 1968. We are members of the Union for Reform Judaism (formerly UAHC). Rabbi Bruce Kadden began his rabbinate at Temple Beth El on July 19, 2004. He was preceded by Rabbi Mark Glickman, who was preceded by Rabbi Richard Rosenthal.

Our congregation has long been part of the life of Tacoma and Pierce County. We began in 1892, and continue today as the center of Jewish lif.

Our congregation has long been part of the life of Tacoma and Pierce County. We began in 1892, and we continue today as the center of Jewish life in the county. Today's Temple Beth El synagogue building was constructed in 1968, and an addition was made in 1993.

Vision Statement: Temple Beth El is a Reform Jewish congregation devoted to promoting the values of Judaism. Our mission is to help individuals and families in the South Puget Sound region grow in their knowledge and observance of Judaism. We strive to create a welcoming community characterized by study, worship and tikkun olam, helping to alleviate suffering and repairing the world.
