Horrible!:
If I could give a negative rating, believe me, I would! I brought my 2009 Mercury Mountaineer in on 10/11/19 for rear growling sounds. They test drove it and said it might be the front differential, then changed their minds and said it was the transfer case. I have aftermarket insurance, and surprisingly, they have been over the top helpful. By 10/16/19 I'd heard nothing. I called and was told they were waiting on the insurance company. I called the insurance company and was told they advised Mike, to do a tear down, AFTER they were sent the WRONG estimate because Mike confused my Mountaineer with ANOTHER Mountaineer that was in the shop the same day. I called Mike back and he denied everything, but said if I authorized it, they would do the tear down. Yes, I authorize it! I asked how long it would take and Mike became defensive and said, "Just so you know, this is a huge job." You are a transmission shop and do these repairs on a daily basis, so what's with the attitude? I then asked what my cost would be and was given a verbal, detailed analysis for a quote of $250.00. I gave it until 10/18/19 and called. I was told the tear down was done, the transfer case was on order, and it would take 5-7 days to arrive. Again, Mike willingly quoted me $250.00, again, for my cost. On 10/23/19, I called to ask if the transfer case had arrived. I was told it had not. On 10/25/19, I was called and told my vehicle was ready. I was then quoted $389.00 if I paid cash or $425.00 if I used a credit card. I asked Mike why I'd been quoted $250.00 TWICE? He FLAT OUT DENIED EVER QUOTING ME! We argued and I said I would not pay one penny more than $250.00. He then stated he wouldn't release my vehicle. I said I would get the police involved and he put me on hold. Several minutes later, Mike got back on the phone and insisted I would owe the inflated price he told me. I lost it and broke down crying, as I had just lost my job that morning. Mike then relented and said he would do me a "favor" and if I paid $250.00 in cash, he would release my vehicle. Fast forward, I paid and then left because I needed to secure a ride to follow me so I could drop off the vehicle I'd borrowed. They were closed when I got back. I turned the engine over and the engine light came on. And, upon driving, the SAME growling noise was still there! I stopped at Valvoline, where they diagnosed the code as having to do with the transmission. On 10/28/19, I go back to Terry's. Mike refused to let me drive with a technician so I could show him the noise I've been hearing. He said it was an "insurance issue." He also said he told the insurance company that there was rear differential issues and that the adjuster told him NOT to fix it??? So, I immediately got on the phone with the insurance adjuster, who said Mike NEVER told him that. In any case, they took it out for a test drive. Mike came in, admitted they couldn't hear the noise, and said if ONLY HIM came with me, I could drive. What a crock of s@!t! Well, he heard the noise.
We get back and he crawls under my vehicle and pulls out a metal piece with what looked like remnants of glue. He said there is your problem. This was rubbing against your exhaust pipe. I asked what it was and he couldn't even tell me! Mike did say on our drive back, that there may be breakdown in the transmission. I said that it would be covered and could he fix it? He said they could, but it would be a 5-6 day job. I said that I didn't care... I just wanted it fixed! I then asked him to call the insurance adjuster to explain what was going on. I saw him sit down and never once did he pick up the phone. He thought he was hiding around the corner, but I watched him. He then said insurance wouldn't cover without a "mechanical fail." I called the adjuster and he said Mike never called and that his story was always changing and he wasn't credible. I then go to AAMCO and they said the rear differential had water in it. They drained it. Still a noise, but if they went thru insurance, the used part might be worse. They were amazing, showed me step by step what they did and all I have to say is DON'T GO TO TERRY'S! I'm totally blowing them in to the BBB!

Honest, but works up a bill:
Terrys Transmission fixed my truck which was low on fluid, and had a leaking transmission pan, cooler lines, cooler tube. He was honest, and I would trust him, but he over charged on parts. I found the parts for 1/4 of the price he charged. So an $800 bill for 2 1/2 hours of labor and about $200 in parts. Labor is at $99 per hour, so he made $350 on parts, and $250 labor, or $600 on that transaction. For instance transmission cooler tube cost $40 autozone, his cost $130. Perhaps we have to accept being over charged on parts, alot of the industry does this for a mark up.
