In a city saturated with Thai restaurants, is there room for more? Thaiphoon may truly make you wonder. Be aware that the flavors are slightly off kilter, so that true Thai aficionados may be disappointed in such dishes as the duck salad, composed of sliced roast duck nestled in a bed of field greens. Locals are "happy with the quality" of the "traditional" Thai eats at this Pentagon City and Dupont Circle duo, with nine-to-fivers especially appreciative of the "fast lunch service"; "extraordinarily reasonable" prices mean the "modern" environs "can get packed" (especially on weekends at the S Street locale).
Just try not to love it. Thai stronghold does bang-up business with Dupont demographic. Affordability means most of the chatty crowd are under thirty and wrinkle-free. Trusted vegetarian dugout. Lucky groups with reservations get places in throne-like booths, the rest are knock-kneed in unlevel table rows.
